In totalitarian states, language can serve as an effective tool of power. However, even in democracies, power is exercised through language. Those who hold political power and control the media can influence language and shape discourses in society. At the same time, language is also a tool of opposition and protest, forming the foundation of dissenting discourses. In this context, language provides a means to understand the fundamental structures of power.

Language is a unique and powerful tool that influences an individual’s and society’s social, economic, and educational conditions. It determines the capabilities of individuals, groups, and communities and plays a crucial role in shaping and defining identity.

The artistic project “Alphabetiuscher” seeks to explore, deconstruct, and experiment with the concept of language in general, and more specifically, its relationship with power. The project also attempts to go beyond these boundaries by creating a model that challenges this relationship. For this reason, it examines specific and urgent cases, such as the Palestinian issue in particular.

The project poses a question and attempts to answer it: Can we create a language capable of confronting the forms of power imposed by our present era—power in its various forms, including governmental authority, occupation, epistemic, social, and cultural powers, and certainly digital authorities?
